?How we operate
Led by longtime technology PR practitioners Kelly Fitzgerald, Barbara Hagin and Pam Preston, Breakaway works with a select group of clients interested in partnering with an experienced and committed public relations team. All members of the Breakaway management team, including the partners as well as Vice President Patty Oien and UK Director Rachel Postlethwaite, have worked together for many years. Prior to Breakaway, we all worked together at TSI Communications/other leading firms including Golin-Harris. We are very familiar with one anothers' strengths (and weaknesses!!), and are uniquely capable of providing seamless support for our clients out of multiple offices. This multi-office approach results in better service for our clients, with on-the-ground support in the places technology companies need it most: Silicon Valley, New York/Boston and UK/Europe .
And it’s not just about the managers. Every member of the Breakaway team brings something special to our organization that benefits us and our clients. Breakaway staffers have diverse backgrounds that span sales, marketing, politics, training, journalism, events management, publishing, entertainment and more. Some of us have even been client side, and understand firsthand what keeps them our clients up at night. The art of public relations is more challenging than ever, with “citizen journalists” and social media becoming as important and influential (and sometimes even more so) in certain industries than the “traditional” media. Significantly, Breakaway weaves social media research and outreach alongside more conventional PR approaches in all of its programs. In addition, our Social Media Practice provides our customers clients with more in-depth access to resources for leveraging social networking tools and approaches.
